Technolarp is a YouTuber who built a channel around impersonating the late Minecraft creator Technoblade. As of this writing, the YouTuber has over 203,000 subscribers and four million views across 12 videos, the first having been uploaded in June 2026. His channel has since sparked a debate over whether it is a harmless tribute or an unethical attempt to profit from a creator’s legacy.
The YouTuber rose to prominence by using a voice and speaking style similar to Technoblade’s, while also trying to replicate his Minecraft skin and visual branding. Overall, Technolarp’s content is designed to evoke the feeling of classic Technoblade videos.
For context, the term larp (live-action roleplay) has grown in usage recently and typically refers to someone pretending to be something they are not. The YouTuber made this clear in the description of his first video, saying:
“I am NOT @Technoblade and this is purely for comedy and the love of the creator.”
That being said, some of Technoblade’s friends and associates, as well as netizens, spoke out against the larp. Minecraft streamer Tubbo said:
“is it safe to say I’m really not sure im a fan of this whole larp account trend thing? it just feels off.”
“larptube is one thing, larping dead people and abusers are NOT ok,” said @quacklivia
“hey so forming your entire persona around impersonating someone who died of cancer is incredibly lame, and donating half the revenue does not absolve you of that,” said @Pikaclicks.
“The whole thing is just weird tbh, especially with the some of the larp channels. I get it that its suppose to be a “bit” . But there is definitely a line and it was crossed a long time ago,” said @Poafa2.
“Technolarp has ended”: Technolarp announced that he will stop impersonating Technoblade
Technoblade’s dad, Technodad, confirmed that Technolarp had contacted him multiple times seeking approval, but said he never gave clear permission and described his feelings as “inconclusive.” He later acknowledged how uncomfortable the situation was for many fans:
“I will say that Technolarp has reached out to me on a few occasions to get my take on things, and I have been putting that off for a while. I just don’t know what to say to him…. Anyway, my response is: inconclusive. I’m still ruminating on the whole thing.”
Later, on July 14, 2026, Technodad asked the YouTuber, “or any similar persona now or in the future,” to “cease” impersonations of his son:
“I am asking for this to please stop, and for the persona in question to cease. No blessing or permission for this, or for any similar persona now or in the future, has been given.”
In a video titled “The END of Technolarp…,” the YouTuber responded to Technodad, saying he’s relieved and would change the overall brand away from Technoblade:
“I’m really relieved that I even got an answer, I didn’t really mind if it was yes or no. I respected any decision right. So the answer was to stop the Technoblade persona or anything similar to it. Now I can’t really change how I sound. Like my voice, because like it’s my normal voice, but I can definitely take off the skin. I can change the name.”
Notably, he also asked his users to feel free to unsubscribe:
“I wanted to say that if you guys are only here for the Technoblade persona, like the Technoblade stuff, I highly advise that you unsubscribe.”
As of this writing, Technolarp’s YouTube biography reads:
“Technolarp has ended. I will be changing the name and icon soon… I AM NOT THE REAL TECHNOBLADE.”
