Destiny 2 Monument of Triumph is the game’s final update in terms of content, and patch notes. Bungie have announced in their very first announcement regarding the EoS, where the studio will seize any other future projects for the looter-shooter permanently, leaving the game in an auto-drive state alongside everything that came with the June 2026 update.
However, some updates goes beyond major content or weekly patches, leading many to wonder whether there will be emergency patches in the future.
This article makes things clearer on the situation between Bungie and Destiny 2, answering if there will be any more update on the game after Monument of Triumph.
Destiny 2 will only recieve emergency updates in rare occassions, with no major release planned anymore
Regarding major content updates and patch notes, Destiny 2 will not be getting them anymore in the future. The final content update was on June 9, 2026, with Monument of Triumph, and the final major patch notes were released on July 7, 2026.
Hence, players won’t be getting any major sandbox shake-up anymore down the line, nor any additional season or expansion that counts as content.
However, the game isn’t getting completely abandoned, as the game’s senior community manager, dmg04 on X, confirmed that there will be an emergency team overlooking “high-priority issues,” and general server maintenances with downtimes.
Destiny 2 isn’t exactly a game free of server-side problems. There are more than 100 error codes dedicated to a type of issue that the servers, or the game itself, can catch now and then.
Hence, if there is something game-breaking in the future, or a bug that might crash someone’s game on a regular basis, players can rest assured that there will be a team dedicated to fixing those issues at all times.
