Slide over, George Brett, there’s a new Kansas City Royals all-time leader for home runs, and his name is Salvador Perez.
Salvador Perez hits home run No. 318
In the top of the seventh inning of Saturday’s game against the Detroit Tigers, Perez launched what wasn’t only a game-tying home run, but also a record-setting one.
It was home run No. 318 of Perez’s career, and it broke a tie with the aforementioned Brett for the most in Royals franchise history.
Perez tied Brett with home run No. 317 on Wednesday. Three days later, he set the record at, fittingly enough, the same ballpark where he hit his first MLB home run in 2011.
