After missing out on Morgan Rogers to London rivals Chelsea, Arsenal have still got plenty of cash to splash this summer. The Gunners watched on as the England international headed to Stamford Bridge for a British-record £117m price-tag.
One opportunity missed could now turn into an opportunity gained, with Julian Alvarez still one to watch. The Atletico Madrid man publicly confirmed that he wants to leave the Spanish club at the World Cup and Arsenal could be primed to swoop in ahead of Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Despite sealing the Premier League title last season, Arsenal’s frontline still needs plenty of work. Tzolis is a fantastic addition on that front, but there’s no doubt that Alvarez would be the pick of the bunch.
As reported by TeamTalk, Arsenal are in constant contact with Alvarez and his camp as they await his decision. With Barcelona and Real Madrid also interested, it’s fair to say that he’s not short on suitors, but it’s the Gunners who could land the deal at a better price.
Whilst those in North London are prepared to break the British transfer record to sign the Argentine forward, Atletico Madrid are unlikely to demand a record-breaking fee if he decides to join Arsenal.
That’s a major boost for those at the Emirates, but the ball is still very much in Alvarez’s court. He’s made it clear that he wants to leave Atletico Madrid and he must now decide whether to push for a rival move or for a return to the Premier League.
No one can doubt his quality back in England. It’s worth remembering that Alvarez is already a Premier League winner and impressed at Manchester City, scoring 36 goals in 103 games. Dubbed “amazing” by Pep Guardiola during his time at the Etihad, the South American would transform Arsenal’s attack.
