Night One of SummerSlam 2026 is in the books, and one of the loudest pops of the night happened when Nick Aldis came out to a popular Oasis track for his big fight against Gunther. Triple H broke character to reveal he was thrilled to give Aldis the news.
Nick Aldis had relinquished his position as General Manager of SmackDown so he could face Gunther in the ring at SummerSlam. It was Aldis’ first match in three years and his in-ring debut in WWE. However, before his bout, there was a massive surprise as the National Treasure came out to the tunes of the world famous Britsh band, Oasis.

Wade Barrett on commentary couldn’t contain himself when he heard his compatriot Nick Aldis coming out to the 1995 Oasis track Morning Glory. A clearly excited Barrett called it “every Englishman’s dream.”
“But please, please, this is Nick Aldis making his WWE in-ring debut at SummerSlam to the biblical tunes of Oasis. It’s every Englishman’s dream. Congratulations, Nick. Biblical! I’m mad for it, Barrett said.
Meanwhile, Triple H broke character during the SummerSlam Post-Show to disclose his recent conversation about music with Nick Aldis, when the Brit mentioned Oasis as his fantasy. The license to use their track came in a few days before his match, and the WWE CCO said he was thrilled to inform Aldis that they could use Oasis’ track.
“A couple of weeks ago, we were talking about music, and I was like, ‘Give me your fantasy. What’s the biggest fantasy?’ He said, ‘What about Oasis?’ ‘Maybe. Let’s see. Meanwhile, let’s work on something else.’ I was thrilled a few days ago to tell him that Oasis was in, ‘Oasis is in, dude. We’re doing it,’” Triple H said.
WWE is not known to procure licenses to use music for their stars, so it was a rare move that the Chief Content Officer likely pulled off for Aldis.
Triple H tears up Nick Aldis’ resignation letter
True to his words, Nick Aldis handed in his resignation as General Manager of SmackDown.
Triple H acknowledged that Aldis was a man of his word, but more importantly, as a man who took it out in the ring in the true spirit of wrestling. He tore up the resignation letter as he reinstated him as the General Manager of the blue brand with a note to get back to work and stay away from Gunther.
“I appreciate this. I appreciate how much you’re a man of your word. I also appreciate that you’re a man. Gunther crossed the line. You crossed the line. But we settled it the way we do in WWE. You got in the ring, and you fought for what you believed in. Doesn’t matter the outcome. The matter is that you fought. You’re a hell of a man, Nick. I’m proud of you. I’m proud of what you did. I’m proud of what you accomplished. I’m proud of everything you did tonight. But as for this letter of resignation, well, I believe in what you did. You’re reinstated as the General Manager of SmackDown. Lay off of Gunther. Call things down the middle and let’s get back to work,” Triple H said.
Now with Nick Aldis reinstated, it remains to be seen what is next for him on Friday Night SmackDown.
