India seamer Arshdeep Singh has opened up about the IPL 2026 social media controversy, during which he removed most of his Instagram posts following Punjab Kings’ (PBKS) exit from the tournament. His comments came after India’s away ODI series against England, where the Men in Blue suffered a 2-1 defeat, with Arshdeep remaining wicketless in his only appearance, the series decider at Lord’s.
During a conversation on Krishnank Atrey’s YouTube channel, the 27-year-old was asked about the reason behind deleting his Instagram posts. He explained that the IPL had ended and he wanted to clean things up. Arshdeep added that people tend to make an issue out of it and question what happened, but he removed the posts because he wanted to and will put them back if he wants to. He said:
“IPL had ended and I felt like cleaning things up, so I was properly clearing everything out. I mean, people make an issue out of it, asking why I removed the videos and what happened to Arshdeep’s Instagram account, why he changed it overnight. But it’s nothing like that, bro. I just felt like removing them, so I did. If I feel like it, I’ll put them back. It’s just about my mood. Whenever I feel like it, I post something.”
PBKS narrowly missed out on a playoff spot in IPL 2026, finishing fifth, while Arshdeep also endured an underwhelming campaign, claiming 14 wickets in as many games but conceding runs at an economy rate of 10.20.
Arshdeep Singh reveals his go-to players for sharing memes
In the same conversation, Arshdeep Singh was asked which players in the Indian team he shares the most memes with. He revealed that he has a group consisting of Ravi Bishnoi, Avesh Khan and Jitesh Sharma, with whom he frequently exchanges memes. He said:
“There’s a group consisting of Ravi Bishnoi, Jitesh Sharma, Avesh Khan and me. The four of us have been close since we were newly selected for the Indian team. So whenever something funny happens, like someone says something in an interview that later backfires and memes are made about it, we keep sending those memes to each other.”
Arshdeep Singh has so far featured in 109 matches for India across the two white-ball formats, claiming 165 wickets, including two five-wicket hauls.
