The new Eredivisie season kicks off with Sparta Rotterdam taking on Feyenoord at Sparta Stadion Het Kasteel in Rotterdam on Sunday. The two Rotterdam-based clubs will clash on the first matchday of the 2026-27 Dutch top-flight season.

Rogier Meijer’s side finished 10th in the 2025-26 Eredivisie standings, with 43 points from 34 matches, and they will certainly be aiming for a better placement this season, although a match against Feyenoord is a tough introduction to the new campaign.
De Kasteelheren have had a busy pre-season, playing seven friendly matches, which produced three wins, two draws, and two losses.
In their most recent match, Sparta Rotterdam drew 0-0 with German 3. Bundesliga club Duisburg on 1 August, and they will need to be more clinical if they are to trouble their Eredivisie opponents.

Feyenoord beat Atalanta 2-1 last Sunday, with strikes from Shaqueel van Persie and Ayase Ueda cancelling out Nikola Krstovic’s goal on the stroke of halftime.
