In a 1-on-1 interview with Scottsdale City Lifestyle on Sunday, Randi Mahomes talked about her life before her son Patrick Mahomes became an NFL star.
She also talked about raising her three children, Patrick, Jackson and Mia, as a single mother.

Randi said that before the Mahomes name became famous, people knew her as a baseball wife.

“I was known as a baseball wife, then an ex-wife, and most importantly, as Patrick, Jackson, and Mia’s mom,” Randi said. “The early years of motherhood shaped me.”

Randi also talked about how her own parents affected the way she raised her children.
“My parents were very strict, and as a kid, I swore I’d be the ‘cool mom,’” she said.
However, Randi admitted that she ended up being stricter than she thought she would be. She also feels that being strict helped Patrick and her other children.
“And here I am … definitely stricter than I expected,” she said. “And honestly, I can see how that structure helped shape Patrick and my other kids in the best ways.”
Randi then opened up about how hard it was to be a single mother. She said people often see the success that comes later but do not always see the hard work behind it.
“People don’t see the constant balancing act,” Randi said. “You have to be the nurturer and the disciplinarian, the provider and the protector.”
She said she had many responsibilities while raising her children. Some days were harder than others.
“You carry it all, and some days, that’s heavier than anyone realizes,” she said.
Randi also shared that she missed many important moments with her children because she had to work. This included school events, social outings and holidays.
“I missed a lot … school events, social outings, holidays,” she said.
Even though she missed those moments, Randi said she worked long hours to make sure her children had everything they needed. She does not regret the sacrifices she made for her family.
“I worked long hours to make sure they had what they needed,” she said. “That was the trade-off, but I’d do it again in a heartbeat.”
Randi Mahomes was previously married to former MLB pitcher Pat Mahomes (Pat Mahomes Sr.), whom she married in the 1990s before they divorced in 2006.

Meanwhile, Randi welcomed her youngest daughter, Mia Randall after her divorce, and the family has chosen to keep the identity of Mia’s father private.

In the 1-on-1 interview with Scottsdale City Lifestyle, Patrick Mahomes’ mother, Randi, recalled feeling overwhelmed when scouts began attending his games during his junior and senior years of high school.
“I always knew he had something special, but when major league baseball scouts started showing up at his games, I realized this wasn’t just a phase,” Randi said.
She also reflected on the emotional moment when Patrick entered the NFL.
“It was a huge adjustment,” Randi said. “Fame changes everything … how people see you, how you move through the world.”
Randi said the family eventually learned to prioritize privacy.
Randi also addressed the often-overlooked role mothers play in the careers of elite athletes.
“We are the ones who held it all together. We’re the ones who built that foundation,” she said.
Reflecting on Patrick’s childhood, Randi became emotional while recalling his first T-ball game. The team was short a player, and Patrick stepped in and took over the game on the same field where she had played as a child.
For Randi, it remains a special full-circle moment.
