Following an emotional tribute show to Andy “The Butcher” Williams, a Death Riders member has emerged as the victor in a Battle Royale in honor of the late wrestler. This was a great moment to close out AEW Collision tonight.
Before the show, it was announced that a The Butcher Battle Royale will be taking place to honor the man with the most Battle Royale eliminations in AEW history. The winner of the match will donate $100,000 to their chosen charity in Andy Williams’ name. This was the main event of this week’s episode of Collision.
It was a heartwarming night as the promotion honored the AEW original and even showcased messages from people on the roster whom he was close with. Some stars even paid tribute to him during their matches tonight.
Then came the main event, which featured 12 stars facing off in the Battle Royale. This featured some members of the Death Riders, members of the Don Callis Family, Darius & Dante Martin, Eddie Kingston, Ortiz, Beast Mortos, and AR Fox.
In the end, it was Daniel Garcia and Josh Alexander who emerged as the final two competitors. The Walking Weapon played the heel for this one, as he eliminated the crowd favorites, including Eddie Kingston.
Garcia showcased his fighting spirit and was able to pull off one final elimination for what was a monumental win for him. He has a lot of history with The Butcher, as they both hailed from Buffalo, New York.
Daniel Garcia needed a minute to compose himself as he was emotional post-match. He even grabbed Andy Williams’ guitar and a sign from a fan and paid tribute to his dear friend and colleague.
It has been an emotional week for AEW as they showcased their Rebel Heart show on Wednesday and a show in honor of The Butcher tonight. This was a great showcase of things bigger than wrestling.
