Everton enter the race to sign “fantastic” Liverpool target with shades of Bellingham

Everton have entered the race to sign Leicester City midfielder Louis Page, but there could be competition from rivals Liverpool.

Although missing out on AS Monaco striker Folarin Balogun on deadline day must have been frustrating, David Moyes should be happy with the work done to rebuild his midfield during the summer transfer window, with three central midfielders arriving at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

However, the Toffees have now entered contention to sign Page, who could be regarded as a signing for the future, rather than a player capable of making an immediate impact, given that he is still in the early stages of his career.

At just 18-years-old, the youngster has only made 28 first-team appearances for the Foxes, seven of which have been this season, and he has managed to amass three assists in five League One outings.

Last season, the teenager also got his first taste of Championship football, and he was named EFL Apprentice of the Year, despite Leicester suffering relegation to the third tier.

Moreover, the starlet has also received a vote of confidence from Leicester manager Russell Martin, who insisted he wants to keep hold of him unless a big offer is received.

Martin said: “But no, until something comes in that is really brilliant for the club, the player, and everyone is happy, then Louis stays, and he’s in the squad.”

Most recently, the teenager put himself in the shop window by putting in a solid performance against Stockport County, grabbing two assists in the Foxes’ 4-3 victory at Edgeley Park.

As such, it is no surprise the race for Page’s signature is starting to heat up, with Everton recently joining the race for his signature, although there may be competition from the likes of Borussia Dortmund, Manchester City, Liverpool, Newcastle United and Sunderland.

That is according to a report from TEAMtalk, which states the Toffees sent a scout to watch the Leicester star in action at the weekend, and he is likely to have made a good impression, given that he set up two of his side’s goals.

Manchester United believe they are leading the race for the wonderkid, who is described as the ‘new Jude Bellingham’, given that the Real Madrid star made his breakthrough at Birmingham City at a similar age.

Page is also said to share a similar playing style to the England international, who scored seven goals for the Three Lions at the 2026 World Cup.
