Predicted Manchester United line-up against Brighton

Manchester United are set to face Brighton and Hove Albion at Old Trafford in the Carabao Cup third-round fixture tonight.

After finishing third in the Premier League last campaign, the Red Devils have endured a dire start this term, languishing 13th in the table with four points from as many league matches. However, they won the opening Champions League encounter against Sabah last weekend.

On the other hand, Brighton have enjoyed a promising start this season, sitting fifth in the table with seven points from four league matches. They have already scored 13 goals in the English top-flight and are currently the highest scoring team.

    Team news

Amad Diallo, Matthijs de Ligt, and Carlos Baleba remain sidelined due to their respective injury problems. Moreover, Manuel Ugarte isn’t in contention to be involved tonight owing to a serious knee injury that he sustained on international duty with Uruguay this summer.

After starting the first three league matches, Luke Shaw was sidelined due to a minor problem in the last two games. However, he could be fit enough to be involved vs the Seagulls.

    Predicted line-up

Michael Carrick is expected to make a few changes to the starting line-up tonight and Karl Darlow might make his Man Utd debut. So, Senne Lammens is likely to get a breather in midweek.

Leny Yoro should start in the centre-back position ahead of Harry Maguire and Ayden Heaven could be deployed alongside the Frenchman at the back. So, Lisandro Martínez might be among the substitutes.

Noussair Mazraoui is expected to commence in the right-back role and Patrick Dorgu could be on the opposite side. In that case, Diogo Dalot and Shaw would have to make do with a place on the bench.

Andrey Santos is likely to start in the defensive midfield position and Mason Mount could be alongside the Brazilian in the engine room for United. So, Youri Tielemans and Kobbie Mainoo may feature as substitutes if needed.

Despite displaying inconsistent performances during the first few weeks of this season, Bruno Fernandes is expected to continue in the CAM role.

Shea Lacey could get the nod to start on the right flank and Marcus Rashford maybe on the opposite side. Therefore, Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo should feature as substitutes if needed.

Benjamin Sesko is set to lead the line for United and Joshua Zirkzee would have to make do with a place on the bench.

Expected Man Utd line-up vs Brighton

Darlow; Mazraoui, Yoro, Heaven, Dorgu; Santos, Mount, Bruno; Lacey, Sesko, Rashford
