Former Chelsea player turned pundit Jason Cundy has urged Manchester United to appoint Unai Emery as the next manager. He believes that the Aston Villa manager is the ideal replacement for Michael Carrick.
Speaking on The Sports Bar, Cundy stated that Manchester United need to accept that it was a mistake to appoint Carrick on a permanent deal. He urged the Red Devils to make the switch to Emery and not wait until Christmas and said:

“Unai Emery, go and get him, get him out of Villa. That’s what I’d do. If I were Sir Jim Ratcliffe, I’d now cut my losses and go and get Unai. Don’t wait until Christmas to have the conversation, do it now.” (via Mirror)
However, former Tottenham man Jamie O’Hara has questioned why the Spaniard would switch from Aston Villa to Manchester United. He believes that the Villa Park side are better for the manager and said:
“I don’t know if Unai Emery wants to be Man United manager. Why would he want to go in there? Unai Emery isn’t going to leave Villa now anyway; he isn’t leaving Villa. You just said they’re (United) skint.”
“They’ve got to sack Carrick, then you’ve got to buy Unai Emery out of Villa, and then you’ve got to pay him £10-15million. You just said they’ve got no money. You can’t keep changing your manager. You’re (United) the same as Tottenham. You’ve got a problem; you’ve got a mentality problem. It isn’t the manager; it doesn’t matter who you bring in; you still have the same problems.”
The Red Devils appointed Carrick on an interim deal last season, and his impressive run saw him earn a permanent deal. He penned a 2-year deal with an optional year.
Michael Carrick not feeling the pressure at Manchester United
Michael Carrick has claimed that the media speculation about his future does not bother him. He added that the start at Manchester United has not made him panic, and he is focused on improving things at the club, and said:
“I don’t feel under pressure. Either way, that doesn’t bother me one bit. It genuinely doesn’t bother me one bit. I understand what goes on outside and how the world works, but genuinely, it doesn’t bother me.”
Manchester United have won just one of their opening four Premier League matches this season, while losing twice. They have also been knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Brighton & Hove Albion.
