It is fair to say that Liverpool are going through a transitional phase and need to make several additions across different positions in their squad to be able to challenge England’s and Europe’s best clubs on the silverware front.
Of late, the club has spent big money on offensive additions and another name has emerged on their radar as the Reds seek a like-for-like replacement for Mohamed Salah with new signing Bradley Barcola expected to feature primarily on the left wing.
According to Ekrem Konur, Liverpool are closely monitoring Estevao Willian’s situation at Chelsea. Barcelona are also keeping tabs on the youngster’s development at Stamford Bridge and could rival the Merseyside giants for his services.
Chelsea have the Brazilian firmly within their plans for the future and value him at roughly £103 million, as per the journalist, but if the player does not have a regular role in their setup over the next few months, he may consider departing for more minutes.
Excellent potential addition for Liverpool
Liverpool would have secured a generational talent’s services if they can lure Estevao Willian away from Chelsea. The 19-year-old is one of the Premier League’s best young forwards and has a bright future ahead.
Estevao’s superb dribbling, success rate at completing take-ons and ball progression down the right wing make him a lethal asset in the final third, combined with his ability to create chances for forwards in the box and to get into scoring positions himself.
Xabi Alonso has preferred using Cole Palmer on the right wing, with Pedro Neto being utilised as a right wing-back lately, leaving Estevao largely confined to the bench. If the Spaniard continues to leave the forward out of his plans, the Reds may sense an opportunity to sign him.
Barcelona will be strong contenders for Estevao’s services too but Lamine Yamal is already available to them and as a result, Liverpool’s likelihood of providing him with more consistent game time could see them trump the Catalans to the Brazilian’s transfer.
