Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal have reportedly been offered the chance to sign Barcelona midfielder Dani Olmo, as per TEAMtalk.
Since moving to Old Trafford from Sporting CP, Bruno Fernandes has established himself as one of the best players in the English top-flight, helping his side win a few domestic cup competitions.
Last season, he broke the Premier League’s assist record, scoring nine goals and registering 21 assists in 35 appearances. He even helped his side qualify for the Champions League by finishing third in the league.
However, the Portuguese’s long-term future at Man Utd is currently uncertain as he has entered the final few months of his current contract, with the Red Devils having an option to extend his deal for one more year.
As a result, it appears United have started exploring options as a potential long-term replacement for the 32-year-old.
Now, TEAMtalk claim that Man Utd have been offered the chance through intermediaries to sign Olmo in January, with Barcelona considering cashing-in on him to raise funds and upgrade other areas. Olmo has mainly featured as a rotational option at Camp Nou, with Fermin Lopez ahead in the pecking order.
However, apart from the Old Trafford club, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City have also been contacted through intermediaries to be informed about Olmo’s availability.
Battle
On the other hand, the report state that Bayern Munich and Saudi Pro League clubs have also expressed their interest in signing the Spaniard, valued at around £51m by Transfermarkt.
Liverpool decided to reinforce the CAM position by purchasing Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen last year. However, he has struggled to find his feet in the Premier League.
On the other hand, Arsenal currently have Martin Odegaard and Eberechi Eze as specialist creative midfielders. Moreover, Max Dowman can provide cover in this position if needed. However, Eze has featured as a left-winger this season.
Olmo is a creative midfielder by trait but is also comfortable in the box-to-box role. The 28-year-old is a top-class player and could be a shrewd acquisition for Man Utd, Liverpool or Arsenal should any of those clubs eventually manage to secure his services in January or next summer.
