The A Gear in Need mission is the third chapter of Act One in Gears of War E-Day, which begins after the Survival of the Fittest mission. How to complete A Gear in Need mission (Act 1 Chapter 3) in Gears of War E-Day
As mentioned earlier, A Gear in Need is the third chapter of Act One in Gears of War E-Day. The mission kicks off with intense action as you are immediately confronted by Locusts, Crawlers, and Drones charging towards your team.
Eliminate the Monster Threats
Once the enemies start charging, take cover and eliminate them quickly. The best strategy is to attack from the right, where your height advantage makes aiming easier.
Find the Gear at the Pay-N-Save
After the area is clear, move straight toward the collapsed building. Head over the inclined rubble and make your way across the gap. Next, turn right and take the stairs going downward.
After that, use the stairs on your right to reach a broken wall. Go through it and turn left onto the street. Now, walk straight until you see a parked trailer with Pay-N-Save written on it. Soon, a Rusher will charge toward you, so eliminate it first.
After that, turn right to enter the store. Cross the first hall, and in the second hall, look on the left side to find Tomatoes, Canned, the first collectible of the A Gear in Need mission in Gears of War E-Day. After collecting it, simply go through the exit door to trigger a cutscene.
Defend the Pay-N-Save
Once the cutscene is over, a massive swarm of Locusts and Drones will appear. Join your team and eliminate them. Considering the large number of enemies, you will need to frequently take cover behind the counters, pick up ammo, and aim quickly and precisely.
Shortly after, a cutscene will trigger in which a Drone grabs Marcus by the neck. With Marcus out of ammo and seemingly helpless, Tai saves him by using his chainsaw to tear apart the threat. Do not forget to collect the Broken Lancer Bayonet from the Drone’s body, which will be your second collectible of the A Gear in Need mission in Gears of War E-Day.

Afterward, simply exit the store and follow Tai, who will lead you and the team to the secret base, where Manu and other members are present. This wraps up the A Gear in Need mission in Gears of War E-Day.
