“To get swept in 2nd round”, “Goat debate done and dusted” – WNBA Fans Divided After A’ja Wilson Claims 5th MVP Over Caitlin Clark In Blowout Voting

WNBA fans were divided on social media after Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson won her fifth MVP award.

ESPN’s Shams Charania reported on X that Wilson was named the 2026 MVP. The Aces star is the first player in the league to win three straight MVPs. She is also the first player to win the award five times, the most in the WNBA. She appeared in 41 games during the regular season, averaging 26.2 points, 9.4 rebounds and 3.2 assists.

Wilson had 65 first-place votes, the only player in MVP voting with double-digit first-place votes. Minnesota Lynx rookie Olivia Miles was the runner-up with six first-place votes. Indiana Fever stars Kelsey Mitchell and Caitlin Clark had two and one first-place votes, respectively.

Fans expressed their reactions to Wilson’s latest MVP win on X.

“To get swept in the second round,” a fan said.

“Goat debate done and dusted,” another fan commented.

“At least the ones who know the game know that CC is a**,” one fan said.

More fans reacted to A’ja Wilson winning MVP.

“Five MVPs, three rings, and she’s only 30. The GOAT case is getting pretty hard to argue against,” someone commented.

“Caitlin Clark was definitely robbed; she’s a female Curry 💤,” a comment read.

“The three-peat is the wildest part. Back-to-back is rare enough, but nobody had ever three-peated the MVP,” one fan commented.

Wilson and the Aces are in the second round of the playoffs against the Golden State Valkyries. However, they are on the verge of being swept, as the Valkyries have a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five series.

Bam Adebayo Knew A’ja Wilson Was the WNBA MVP for a Week

Before the MVP award was announced, Miami Heat star Bam Adebayo had already known for a week. However, he kept it a secret from A’ja Wilson and chose to surprise her with the news. The Las Vegas Aces star told the media that Adebayo did not mention the MVP win to her.

“Bam actually had known for a week, so he didn’t tell me anything, which is great,” Wilson said. “But good luck in his preseason game.”

Adebayo couldn’t be with Wilson on Thursday since the Heat have a preseason game against the New Orleans Pelicans. The three-time NBA All-Star took the time to congratulate his girlfriend via a video message.

“Shoutout to my sweets, A’ja Wilson, on winning her fifth MVP,” Adebayo said. “I took the time out of Media Day to celebrate you, and that’s what it’s all about: celebrating you. As you do and have done these amazing things. So, congratulations to you and your fifth one.”

The couple began dating in 2021, per reports, and went public in 2025.
