Take a look at the various talking points around the National Women’s Soccer League.

NWSL Shield and postseason picture hang in the balance

The NWSL enters the international break with much left to play for. A total of 11 teams are still mathematically in contention for eight playoff spots. Just six points separates clubs No. 1 through No. 3 in the table. No team has yet to clinch a home playoff berth.

League leaders Gotham FC dropped late points to the league’s hottest team Angel City FC. The San Diego Wave have the longest active win streak (four games) and remain hot on Gotham FC’s heels by being four points back. The Washington Spirit survived a gritty Houston Dash side and ran out 3-2 winners thanks to newcomer Clara Luvanga’s late goal. The Spirit, though, fall out of the top two spots for the first time in 13 match weeks.
