“Jokes write themselves”: NFL fans react as Abdul Carter skips Jaxson Dart’s locker room meeting over Trump controversy for religious obligation

Abdul Carter, Jaxson Dart and the New York Giants are in the headlines again. This time it’s because the linebacker reportedly skipped a locker room meeting tied to the quarterback’s recent President Donald Trump rally controversy.

The whole thing started when Dart introduced President Trump at a rally. It led Carter to react online with,

“thought this sh** was AI, what we doing man?”

His tweet went viral, garnering over 40 million views. Carter later clarified that he and Dart had spoken “like men” and were “good.” The Giants LB has since then deleted both tweets.

According to New York Post reporter Ryan Dunleavy, Carter missed the team meeting because of previously disclosed family obligations connected to a religious holiday. ESPN’s Jordan Raanan later reported that the second-year linebacker returned to the building on Thursday.

However, that explanation didn’t stop fans from piling on.

“The jokes write themselves,” one fan posted.

Another said, “Was he late for that too? Or sleep during?”

One X user tweeted, “So the dude who the meeting was intended for wasn’t even at the meeting.”

“So the one person who needed to hear to keep things “internal” wasn’t involved in this meeting?! Of course 😂,” tweeted one more.

One more fan said, “Carter uses excuses to skip meetings and be late. Trade this clown.”

“How convenient for Carter. The meeting should not have taken place at all,” commented another.

At the OTAs, veterans including Brian Burns, Kayvon Thibodeaux and Jameis Winston reportedly addressed the team.
