Roman Reigns’ WrestleMania 43 opponent revealed – Report

Roman Reigns is gearing up for a clash with his former Shield stablemate, Seth Rollins, at this year’s SummerSlam 2026. Before this match was confirmed, it looked like Reigns would be defending his World Heavyweight Title against Oba Femi. Dave Meltzer, however, feels WWE is preserving it for WrestleMania 43.

Femi won the King of the Ring Tournament at Night of Champions 2026, where he defeated Jey Uso in the finals. Following this, fans were convinced that The Ruler would have a dream showdown with The OTC at SummerSlam 2026. However, on the latest RAW, Femi confirmed that he wanted a third match with Brock Lesnar at the PLE, while Seth Rollins emerged as the challenger to Reigns’ gold.

Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio has revealed that all of it has been carefully planned, as WWE wanted a match of Reigns vs. Femi’s magnitude to go down at the biggest stage possible, i.e., WrestleMania.

“He’s going to get his championship match. I think it’ll be at WrestleMania … Maybe Brock didn’t want to make the trip, or maybe they just wanted Oba not to lose twice,” he said. “They wanted him to wear the crown … I’m not surprised, I mean, it doesn’t suck, it’s not the first, tenth or fifteenth time this has been done. It’s just how they decide to do their business. I mean, I think from a business standpoint, they got nothing bigger than Roman Reigns against Oba Femi and that’s the WrestleMania match most likely. So, did he have to win King of the Ring? Could they have done Lesnar? Could Lesnar have interfered?” (H/T – WrestlingInc)

Seth Rollins is likely to lose to Roman Reigns

Considering WWE intends to have Roman Reigns go to war with Oba Femi at WrestleMania 43, it’s safe to assume there’s little chance he would drop the World Heavyweight Title to Seth Rollins at SummerSlam 2026. The two megastars are arguably the most beloved on WWE’s roster today, and fans would expect nothing less than fireworks when they step inside the ring in Minneapolis.

While a title change seems quite unlikely at this point, there’s little doubt that their showdown is the most ideal main event of the marquee Premium Live Event.
