The New York Giants faced off against the Minnesota Vikings in their preseason opener on Saturday. Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart suffered an injury scare during the contest.
Dart was sacked by Vikings safety Jay Ward on the final play of the first quarter. The Giants quarterback was taken to the medical tent for a concussion evaluation after the crushing blow.

Following the game, Giants manager John Harbaugh admitted he was surprised by Dart’s visit to the medical tent.

“Honestly, I was (surprised),” Harbaugh said. I would say that their job is to err on the side of player safety, so I can’t argue with that either.”

Dart, who visited the medical tent five times during his rookie season, returned to the field shortly after being checked. He threw a touchdown pass to rookie wide receiver Malachi Fields after his return.
The Giants coach also said the team needs to “block better” to avoid hits on their second-year quarterback.
Giants running back issues apology to Jaxson Dart after crushing hit
Giants running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. admitted after the game that he lost Vikings safety Jay Ward which led to the crushing hit on his quarterback Jaxson Dart.
“I heard something that made me have my eyes on the wrong side,” Tracy said. “That was really it. I have to get my eyes right and block the guy. I did it two plays earlier. But on that play I heard an alert to the other side, so I had my eyes to the left instead of the right.”
Tracy issued an apology to Dart for his mistake and said it “isn’t going to happen again.”
