Was Cyte-09 nerfed in Warframe hotfix 43.5.2?

After the recent Warframe hotfix 43.5.2, some Cyte-09 mains may see a somewhat perceptible decline in their usual damage number spread. You will no longer, for example, notice as many big multi-million (even billion) hits depending on your build. Is this a nerf? Theoretically, the answer would be no. It’s a bugfix specific to Electric ammo packs from Resupply.

However, with the bugfix in question, Cyte-09 will also have weaker Resupply for other Warframes in the party.

What was fixed for Cyte-09 in Warframe hotfix 43.5.2?

Warframe hotfix 43.5.2, released this thursday, fixed the “damage of multiple Electric Ammo Packs from Cyte-09’s Resupply stacking with another”. The wording may seem a bit complicated here if you’re not familiar with the Warframe, so here’s a quick explanation.

Resupply can be cast to insta-reload the magazine as long as you don’t have a full clip. So if you partially spend your ammo, and then use Resupply to top it off, and then repeat the process a couple of times, you would rack up a much higher Extra Damage stat from ther Ability. This is the bug that was hotfixed this week.

Many Cyte-09 mains will have developed the muscle memory to often press Resupply with a high fire-rate weapon. If you have this habit, you are likely to have benefited from this absurdly overpowered bug in a few cases.

A few players, of course, may have noticed the suspiciously high number spikes and known something was awry in the damage calculation, and kept using it anyway. Those who did it on purpose will feel a proper nerf, as the re-re-re-resupply combo will no longer tantamount to the suspiciously high numbers in question.

It will now correctly give you the additional damage for the added Elemental damage instance as it shows on the tooltip. However, this is limited to Cyte-09 himself. Ammo packs dropped on the ground do not get any Strength scaling at all right now, after Warframe hotfix 43.5.2.

This will mean a weaker stock Resupply ammo pouch for your teammates, since they will always be at 100% Ability Strength. If you happen to walk over these ammo packs when reloading your gun, you will also get this de-powered Resupply magazine as a Cyte-09.

From my testing in the Simulacrum, these reports are true. At 245% Ability Strength, a magazine fed straight from a Resupply cast grants the intended damage boost. However, the dropped ammo packs on the ground from the same cast have the standard (+25%) damage boost as if it was 100% Ability Strength.

This ultimately results in Cyte-09 being somewhat worse-off in a squad, but the damage increase was not ludicrous for those who didn’t abuse the bug.

You still get the unique extra damage instances (same as Toxic Lash), which was the basis for the really powerful build like a Sobek (Acid Shells) Cyte-09 for fast crowd-clearing. So all in all, I wouldn’t go as far as calling it a “nerf”.
