Female Superstar open to WWE return after 18 years

A female superstar is open to a WWE return after 18 years. Over the years, many stars have returned to the Stamford-based promotion after a lengthy hiatus.

Brie Bella and AJ Lee are some of the big names that have made a comeback in recent years. And now, former WWE star Cherry has said that she would love to return for an appearance.

During the Ruthless Aggression, Cherry arrived in WWE in 2007 as manager for the Deuce and Domino duo on SmackDown. The team saw success as they captured the Tag Team Championship, and Cherry later became a part of the Divas division.

She had a short feud with Natalya and Maryse before her release in 2008. Since then, Cherry hasn’t shown up for the sports entertainment giant. Recently, in an appearance on the Rewind, Recap Relive, she was asked whether fans would see her make a surprise appearance in the Women’s Royal Rumble someday.

The 51-year-old star said she would love that but admitted that since her stay in the promotion wasn’t long, it makes it harder for her to return.

“I would love that. I don’t know. I wasn’t there that long. So I think that works against me, and then now that there’s NXT and all of these people and veterans, it makes it harder for someone like me. I mean, I would love it. I’m open to it, and I think that they’re shooting more for keeping the contracted talent on the Rumbles now,” she said.

Cherry said there was a chance of it happening when the Women’s Royal Rumble was first introduced, but now they have certain names signed up for it. Still, she said she would be open to a return if asked.

“I mean, it was a little bit more of an opportunity when they first brought the Rumble in for the women, but now they have so many people signed that they’re using who they’re contracted for. I hate to say that, but I wasn’t really there that long, even though I feel like we had a memorable team. It would be great. I’m open to it,” she added.

Many stars have returned to WWE in recent years

Cherry will hope to follow the example of the likes of AJ Lee, Brie Bella, and Paige when it comes to making a return to WWE.

Last year, AJ Lee returned to the promotion after being away for more than a decade. Then, earlier this year, Brie Bella made a shocking return to the company after four years at the women’s Royal Rumble.

At WrestleMania 42, Brie teamed up with a returning Paige to capture the Women’s Tag Team Championship.
