6 WWE Superstars who could disrupt Cody Rhodes vs. Kevin Owens vs. Johnny Gargano on SmackDown

The last spot in the men’s Money in the Bank contract ladder match will be filled on WWE SmackDown. Kevin Owens, Cody Rhodes, and Johnny Gargano will square off against each other in a triple threat match with the winner joining CM Punk, Je’Von Evans, Bron Breakker, Penta, and Trick Williams in the upcoming six-man ladder match.

On the Blue brand, the title scenario is quite unpredictable, as we have seen the Undisputed WWE Championship change hands multiple times over the last few months. While most of the qualifying matches have been without interference, the stakes are much higher for the SmackDown match, not only because it decides the final entry, but also because whoever wins it may end up as the next World Champion.

With just a few hours to go for SmackDown, here are six WWE Superstars who could disrupt Cody Rhodes vs. Kevin Owens vs. Johnny Gargano.

#6 Candice LeRae makes the save

For most of the year, Johnny Gargano was seen lying face down in several areas backstage and clearly lacking motivation to compete in the ring. That changed on the September 4 episode of SmackDown, when CM Punk challenged him to fight for his Undisputed WWE Championship. Despite losing that effort, Gargano has remained consistently involved in the title picture since then, seeking another opportunity at the title.

To turn the match in his favor, his wife, Candice LeRae, may definitely interfere and even lay her hands on Cody Rhodes or Kevin Owens, as they won’t be able to fight back immediately. WWE may actually book Johnny Wrestling to win this match, as, except for CM Punk, none of the other four competitors in the ladder match have been World Champions in the main roster of the promotion, just like him.

    #5 The Viper strikes again

WWE United States Champion Trick Williams defeated AAA Cruiserweight Champion Rey Fenix and Randy Orton in a triple threat match to earn his spot in the men’s Money in the Bank contract ladder match. It appeared that Orton gracefully accepted the loss, but that could change come SmackDown when Cody Rhodes is about to win the triple threat match.

At WrestleMania earlier this year, Orton turned heel and destroyed The American Nightmare after failing to win the Undisputed WWE Championship. He eventually returned at SummerSlam to cost Cody his title match against CM Punk and then defeated him in a singles match at Sunday Night’s Main Event. Despite that win, The Viper made it clear he is not done with Rhodes, and if he is about to win one more shot at the top title, it seems unlikely that Orton would just let that happen so easily.

#4 Sami Zayn again ruins everything

CM Punk defeated Cody Rhodes to retain the Undisputed WWE Championship at SummerSlam, but lost it to Sami Zayn a few weeks back, ending his title reign at 67 days. The victory was sweet for Sami as Punk initially defeated him to kick off his third reign as the WWE Champion.

Zayn doesn’t like either of the three men in the triple threat match, as any one of them winning the coveted briefcase would hamper his title run. He would definitely interfere, and as he clearly does not intend to support any one of them, it makes an interesting segment based on who finally manages to secure the victory.

#3 #2 #1 Keys, Nima and Price shows up on WWE SmackDown

Since their arrival on RAW, Royce Keys, Bronco Nima, and Lucien Price have viciously attacked The Bloodline. With Jaida Parker joining 946 this week, they seem to be stronger than ever. It is interesting to note that there are reports of 946 facing The Usos and Jacob Fatu on SmackDown, most probably in a dark match following the episode.

If that is the case, and they are already going to be in the arena, it makes sense that they would want to put the Blue brand’s roster on notice as well. The interference may occur after the triple threat qualifier to close out the SmackDown episode.
