This match in IPL is likely to be rescheduled due to security measures

Looks like the Kolkata Knight Riders’ IPL game against Lucknow Super Giants on April 6 might get moved. The Kolkata police haven’t signed off on security because of Ram Navami.

Apparently, a BJP leader, Suvendu Adhikari, said there will be a ton of Ram Navami processions all over West Bengal, which means the police are going to be stretched thin.

The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) president, Snehasish Ganguly, talked to the police a couple of times, but they said they have not given the go-ahead for the match. Snehasish mentioned that they can’t handle a huge crowd of 65,000 people without enough police.

He said they’ve let the BCCI know and they still have a bit to decide. He also said last year an IPL game got pushed back because of Ram Navami. This KKR versus LSG game was a big deal because both teams have lots of local fans.

In the last season, the IPL game between KKR and Rajasthan Royals also got moved for similar reasons.

On a brighter note, the 2025 IPL season kicks off at Eden Gardens on March 22, and KKR is playing Royal Challengers Bengaluru. There’s going to be a big opening show beforehand, with Shreya Ghoshal and Disha Patani possibly performing. Big shots like Jay Shah might show up too.

Snehasish said this match is a big deal and everyone wants tickets and that Eden Gardens is having an opening party after ages. He wouldn’t spill the beans about what’s happening at the pre-match show.
