Subnautica 2’s aquatic vehicle is known as the Tadpole, a predecessor to the Seamoth from the first game. Similarly, this new transport also features a variety of upgrades for you to find and install in order to enhance its capabilities. From increased depth range to solar charging, each allows you to customize your Tadpole as you see fit.
Here are all the Tadpole Upgrades in the game and where to get them. Read on to know more.

Here are all the chassis upgrades and mods in the game so far that you can find in Subnautica 2, each enhancing a different aspect of the underwater vehicle.
- Cavitation Muffler
- Engine Efficiency
- Photovoltaic Charger
- Tadpole Depth Module Mk 1
- Tadpole Haul Chassis
- Scout Ray Chassis
- Strike Armor
Cavitation Muffler

Head to the Alien Ruins, 1300 meters away from the Lifepod to the east. Here, past the Research Outpost (where you can get the Engine Efficiency upgrade, see below), head diagonally downwards NE. Keep heading forward for approximately 270 meters into the green void, past the large architectures, until you reach the location pictured above.
Engine Efficiency

This module is located about 1300 meters east of the Lifepod. More specifically, it is found in the Research Outpost near the Alien Ruins. Enter the dilapidated building and look to the right to find the module blinking and pinging on the table to the right. The Engine Efficiency module reduces the Tadpole’s power draw by 20%.
Photovoltaic Charger

Once again, from the Alien Ruins Research Outpost, head towards the Southeast. You will need to head towards Blackbox Iso, which is approximately 570 meters away. Head inside the wreck, open the door with a repair tool, and grab the Photovoltaic Charger off the table inside. It allows the Tadpole to recharge during the daytime when 40m above sea level.
Tadpole Depth Module Mk 1 & Tadpole Haul Chassis

Back at the Alien Ruins Research Outpost, head diagonally down 165 between SE and S. You must head towards Blackbox Ruby 2, which is about 350 meters away. This is located inside the Needler’s Nest, inside a hole that leads you to a broken Tadpole with a red blinking light.
Since this is at a depth of about 290 meters, leave your Tadpole just above the 250 meters mark to avoid damage. Scan the broken Tadpole beside the mod to obtain the Haul Chassis. This upgrade increases the length of the vehicle, allowing four players to be seated at once, on top of additional storage capabilities. However, this is at the cost of reduced mobility.
Scout Ray Chassis

Head to the Tadpole Pens for this one, located about 666 meters to the east of the Lifepod. The upgrade can be found inside the building to the right of the compartment the investigative beacon is in. Scan the vehicle remains to get the Scout Ray Chassis. This upgrade adds wings to the Tadpole for increased speed and maneuverability but at the cost of increasing its size.
Strike Armor

From the Research Outpost, where you get the Engine Efficiency module, head 60-65 meters towards the 210 in between S and SW on the compass until you reach a wreck. Find the Strike Armor module sitting on a table next to a recording. This mod increases the Tadpole’s physical resistance to attacks and crashes.
