Massive update on Baron Corbin’s return to WWE – REPORT

There has been a massive update regarding Baron Corbin’s potential return to WWE. Last week, there was a report by Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer about Corbin potentially making a return to the promotion.

A new update today from Fightful Select has provided some more clarity on the situation. Corbin, who performs on the independent wrestling scene as Bishop Dyer, has reportedly finished his obligations with companies that he had been working for, including MLW.

The veteran and former NXT star Donovan Dijak are the reigning MLW Tag Team Champions. Fightful’s report noted that their sources believe that Corbin is either signed by WWE or will be in the near future.

Baron Corbin exited the promotion after he was informed his contract would not be renewed a couple of years ago. He teamed up with Apollo Crews in a loss to Los Garza on the August 30, 2024, episode of WWE SmackDown in his final televised match with the promotion. Apollo Crews was let go by the company following WrestleMania 42 last month after being on the roster for over a decade.

Baron Corbin discusses WWE pairing that did not work out

Wrestling veteran Baron Corbin admitted that he was hurt by his pairing with JBL not connecting with fans.

Speaking with WrestleManiac UK, the 41-year-old discussed JBL as his manager and how disappointed he was that it didn’t work. Corbin noted that he felt burnt out and went into a dark place after the pairing failed to gain traction.

“When I was kind of finishing my time up there on the main roster before NXT, I was stuck, man. I was mentally burnt out. Physically, I was burnt out. The stuff with JBL just didn’t work for some reason, it didn’t resonate with the audience like I saw it. I still think it could have been so successful. So, that really hurt, because I think the world of John [JBL] and it really kind of put me in a dark place in a sense.”

It will be fascinating to see what WWE has planned for Baron Corbin moving forward.
