    “Didn’t miss a beat” – Tom Moody’s massive praise for GT star after IPL 2026 Qualifier 2 vs RR

    Former Australian all-rounder Tom Moody hailed Gujarat Titans (GT) skipper Shubman Gill for his match-winning century in IPL 2026 Qualifier 2 against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Friday, May 29. Moody stated that Gill looked in total command out in the middle as a result which GT aced a chase of 215.

    Batting first after winning the toss in Mullanpur, RR posted 214-6 on the board as Vaibhav Sooryavanshi slammed 96 off 47. However, GT cruised home by seven wickets, in 18.4 overs, as Gill slammed 104 off 53 balls, while Sai Sudharsan contributed 58 off 32. The opening duo added 167 in 12.5 overs.

    During a discussion on ESPNcricinfo Timeout, Moody was full of praise for the manner in which Gill led the chase against RR. He commented:

    “He looks so composed out in the middle. He looks in total control of his game. He is not a massive six hitter, but he is a great ball striker and he is comfortable being that person. He nearly struck at 200 today and he didn’t miss a beat. He looked like he was the total conductor out there – controlling the band and just cruised through the chase with great maturity.”

    Gill struck 15 fours and three sixes in his stunning knock before being trapped leg before by Jofra Archer.


    “A very special knock” – Ambati Rayudu on GT skipper’s ton in IPL 2026 Qualifier 2

    Former India batter Ambati Rayudu described Gill’s century against RR in Qualifier 2 as a very special innings. Rayudu stated that the right-handed batter looked very composed during his stay out in the middle and predicted that he is only going to get better from this point.     “Gill looks very settled and mature now. His batting is so precise. He’s doesn’t make any mistakes as such. You don’t see any mishit. It is so clinical, which shows that he is at the top of his game. He is in that zone in his career where he can only get better and can raise the bar every year. This is a very special knock.”

    Gill is currently second on the list of leading run-getters in IPL 2026. In 15 innings, he has amassed 722 runs at an average of 48.13 and a strike rate of 163.71, with one century and six half-centuries.
