The 2026 FIFA World Cup has its first stunner.

On Saturday, Qatar and Switzerland played to a 1-1 tie to start play in Group B. Per CBS Sports, the Rossocrociati entered the match as a -550 favorite, while the Maroons were +600 to draw. The result gave Qatar, playing in its second World Cup and first as a qualifier, its first World Cup point and kept its group wide open. The previous day, Canada and Bosnia and Herzegovina also drew 1-1, giving all four teams one point with each having two remaining matches.

Switzerland largely controlled the match and was minutes away from taking control of Group B with three points. Still, Boualem Khoukhi’s equalizer during stoppage time sent the group into early chaos.

Khoukhi scored from a beautiful set-up on Homam Ahmed’s cross, knocking a header into the back of the net.
