Leo De Vries was traded to the Athletics halfway through the 2025 season, as the Friars acquired All-Star closer Mason Miller. Born in Azua, a coastal city in the Dominican Republic, De Vries signed a $4.2 million deal to join the Padres as an international free agent in January 2024.
He quickly proved his mettle in the minors, establishing himself as one of the organization’s top prospects, and he has continued to add to his reputation since joining the Athletics. Currently, he plays for the Mildand Rockhounds, the A’s Double-A affiliate.
