Jaylen Brown responds to outrageous analytics claim

Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown has been at the forefront of multiple trade rumors in recent days.

Brown appeared in trade packages Giannis Antetokounmpo before the Greek Star landed in Miami, leading to speculation that Brown might now be the next big name on the move.

However, ESPN insider Bobby Marks revealed during an appearance on SiriusXM NBA Radio that some around the league don’t see Brown as valuable enough to meet the Celtics’ steep asking price for his services. Marks claimed that an analytics person told him they view Brown as the seventh-best player on a team. Brown wasn’t having any of that, and he took to social media to call out the disrespect.

Jaylen Brown sends a clear message amid trade speculation

“Analytics nowadays used to discredit and control narratives – Roll the ball out none of these guys better than me on both ends who does he work for,” Brown responded on X.

Brown has been quite active in defending his legacy and status as a top player in this league all season, even making his own MVP case on social media. He brought numbers to back it up, and he wasn’t going to let it go so easily.

“Nobody has won more combined regular season and playoff games since I entered the league 10 years ago,” he added in a follow-up tweet.

Ironically, this might be why Brown needs to leave Boston. Even after being named Finals MVP and even after holding down the fort this season with Jayson Tatum sidelined, the narrative around the team is that Tatum is the go-to guy and Brown is his sidekick.

Whether he’s a true superstar or not might be a debate for another day, but claiming he’d be the seventh-best player on a roster simply doesn’t add up.
