Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced keeps the momentum going after A Single Madman, and This Old Cove is the mission that follows directly from it. It is a shorter quest compared to what came before, but it introduces a few new mechanics and sets up the Templar Hunt missions that open up afterward.

As mentioned above, This Old Cove starts after A Single Madman. Head to the ship dock and you will find James Kidd waiting there.
Follow him from here. After walking with him for a short while, a cutscene triggers and the mission shifts into its next section.
The Mayan Stelae tutorial
After the cutscene, the game introduces the Mayan Stelae mechanic through a short tutorial. The objective is to climb to the top of the Stele structure and use the dedicated button to activate and solve the puzzle in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced.
If this is your first time encountering one, the process is straightforward. Climb to the top of the sculpture, then activate Eagle Vision to begin the mini-puzzle. The goal is to align the white lines with the surrounding environment until they match up correctly, as shown in the image above. Once aligned, the puzzle is solved, and a Mayan Stone is revealed.
After the puzzle is done, a green marker appears on the ground nearby. Follow it and press the dedicated button to dig up the Mayan Stone. That completes the Mayan Stelae section and adds the stone to your inventory.

Heading back to the mansion
Once the Stelae is done, follow James Kidd again. He leads back to the mansion, the same one from the previous mission. Head up the stairs inside to trigger a cutscene that introduces the Templar armor and unlocks the Templar Hunt missions.
Four targets are revealed on your map at this point:
- Rhona Dinsmore
- Upton Travers
- Anto
- Opia Apito
These become available to pursue after this mission wraps up. Once the cutscene finishes, the next objective appears.

Meeting James Kidd at the docks again
Leave the mansion and follow the green marker toward the docks. Head there and meet James Kidd. Another cutscene plays, and after it concludes you are prompted to follow Adewale using the dedicated button shown on screen.
Stay with Adewale as he moves toward the ship, then pick up the supplies alongside him. Carry them to the marked destination, and once that is done a final cutscene plays out, and This Old Cove main quest is completed.
