New Jersey Devils forward Jack Hughes lit up New York’s red carpet on Wednesday night as NHL stars attended the 2026 ESPY Awards.

No one stole the spotlight quite like Jack, who was dressed to impress in a sharp three-piece suit. He was joined by his brother, Quinn Hughes, to mark the special occasion.

Jack Hughes was nominated for Best Play after his golden goal, and the Olympic gold-winning Team USA was nominated for Best Team of the Year at the 2026 ESPY Awards.

Insider David Pagnotta of “The Fourth Period” recently provided a positive update regarding Quinn Hughes’ contract situation with the Wild. As per him, the Wild and Quinn’s camp are getting closer to signing an extension, with a reported AAV of $17 million or higher.

“Quinn Hughes’ extension…they’re getting there; around 17 [million AAV] if not higher – Hello Hockey,” said Pagnotta on Hello Hockey.”

If the deal gets finalized on the numbers that Pagnotta suggested, that would make Quinn second on the team with an AAV of $17 million alongside forward Kirill Kaprizov.

Quinn Hughes was acquired by the Wild in a blockbuster trade with the Vancouver Canucks in December of last year. His contract situation is now drawing attention as the team looks to lock him up long-term.

With questions lingering about whether Quinn will commit long-term, some believe Minnesota could look to add more Hughes family firepower by targeting his brother Jack Hughes.

“And also, it came out that there’s been no progress in contract talks with Quinn in Minnesota. And again, I’m not saying he’s going to Jersey, but like you’ve got to be a little bit nervous as a Wild fan. And it came out this morning that they haven’t progressed in talks because Guerin has been too busy with other things,” said Pasha Eshghi.

Despite all the rumors, a blockbuster trade involving Quinn’s brother Jack Hughes appears to be unlikely at this stage for the Devils star due to his massive contract and high asking price.
