David Ornstein: Tottenham now in advancing talks to sign two Man City stars

Tottenham have already rebuilt their defence and midfield this summer, but Roberto De Zerbi still needs major changes at the top of the pitch.

Spurs survived on the final day after finishing 17th for a second consecutive season, scoring only 48 Premier League goals across the campaign.

That return made attacking reinforcements absolutely essential.

Randal Kolo Muani has returned to PSG following the end of his loan, while Richarlison has entered the final year of his contract with his future still uncertain.

Dominic Solanke remains their most recognised centre forward, but injuries have repeatedly interrupted his Tottenham career. Mathys Tel and Mohammed Kudus, who is also injured, can play across the front line, although neither has yet established himself as the reliable source of goals De Zerbi requires.

The long-term absence of Xavi Simons has created another problem.

Simons suffered a serious knee injury towards the end of last season, removing one of Tottenham’s most creative attackers from De Zerbi’s immediate plans.

Spurs have consequently explored several expensive options.

Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo emerged as a leading target because of his ability to operate from the left or through the middle. Liverpool have been reluctant to consider a sale without first securing another attacker and the Dutchman has four years remaining on his contract.

Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson has also been discussed, with the Senegal international available following his loan at Bayern Munich.

However, Chelsea’s reported £65 million valuation would demand another enormous investment after Tottenham had already spent heavily elsewhere.

De Zerbi’s ideal additions must offer more than finishing, and their search for fresh attacking options has now produced a stunning double approach.

Tottenham advancing in talks for Omar Marmoush and Savinho

David Ornstein reports that Tottenham are now working on a Man City double deal for both Savinho and Omar Marmoush, with negotiations between the clubs advancing.

Nothing is complete, but Spurs want to sign both players.

Savinho has again emerged as a Tottenham target throughout this summer, and the 22-year-old Brazilian can attack from either flank but is particularly dangerous from the right.

He signed a new City contract until 2031, placing the Manchester club in a powerful negotiating position, while Marmoush would provide a different threat.

City paid an initial £59 million to sign the Egypt international from Eintracht Frankfurt in January 2025. He can play centrally, start from the left or work alongside another striker, offering speed and direct running.

The 27-year-old is contracted until 2029 and scored twice during City’s recent friendly victory over Atlético Madrid, showing new manager Enzo Maresca his finishing ability.

No potential fees have been revealed just yet, but signing either player would be significant. Landing both would completely reshape Tottenham’s attack and give De Zerbi the flexible frontline he has been seeking.
