    Charlotte Flair was Supposed to Work with Her Ex-Husband in a WWE Storyline; Reason Why it Got Scrapped

    Charlotte Flair and Andrade El Idolo could have been at the center of one of WWE’s most intriguing real-life storylines, but a combination of injury, personal issues, and changing circumstances ultimately prevented the idea from ever making it to television.

    In an interview with Latin Lover on Luchando Por Tus Sueños as reported by Ringside News, Andrade recently revealed that his 2024 return to WWE was partly built around the idea of eventually working alongside his then-wife Charlotte Flair. The couple discussed returning to WWE and turning their real-life relationship into an on-screen storyline.

    “The idea was to return to WWE and do a storyline with her. That was the idea. But she got injured. And she was out for a year. I mean, I returned and was like everything got cut off,” he said.

    Charlotte Flair had previously revealed in 2021 that she had pitched the possibility of working with Andrade on WWE TV. At the time, Flair said she was interested in showing a different side of herself by portraying an on-screen relationship. WWE ultimately did not move forward with the concept.

    Andrade later left WWE, signed with AEW, and returned to WWE at the 2024 Royal Rumble. However, the timing of his comeback proved unfortunate. Charlotte Flair suffered a serious knee injury during the match against Asuka in December 2023 and underwent surgery, which kept her away from WWE programming for more than a year.

    Charlotte Flair and Andrade’s divorce

    There was also a significant personal development during that period. Flair filed for divorce from Andrade in June 2024, and it was finalized in October 2024. The couple had married in May 2022 after beginning their relationship in 2019.

    Andrade explained that by the time he returned to WWE, the storyline he and Flair had envisioned was no longer possible because she had been sidelined.

    Andrade El Idolo has repeatedly defended Flair when fans attempted to connect their divorce to his WWE departure. In a previous interview, he made it clear that The Queen had nothing to do with his exit and said he still respected her.
