AEW star Tay Melo confirmed her status after she was released from All Elite Wrestling. She was one of the most charismatic stars on the roster. She joined the company in 2020 and caught many eyes. Unfortunately, her momentum derailed when she took a hiatus in 2023 for almost two years as she had a child. After returning, she had to work hard to get back on track.
The 31-year-old star wrestled great matches on TV. She teamed up with Anna Jay multiple times following her return. The duo even entered the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship tournament. Unfortunately, they lost in the first round. They made certain attempts to win the tag team titles a few months ago, but couldn’t win them. Recently, Tony Khan revealed that Tay asked for her release a few months ago, and the AEW President has granted it. No update on her has been heard since her All Elite Wrestling release.
Recently, a fan on X asked Tay Melo if she has retired from pro wrestling, as her social media handle doesn’t mention wrestling. However, the 31-year-old star replied, saying that she didn’t retire.
“Nope, I didn’t retire,” she wrote.
Tony Khan talks about Tay Melo’s AEW release
While speaking on Redemption’s media call, Tony Khan said he had talked with Tay Melo a few months ago, when the latter revealed she wanted to take some time off from pro wrestling.
“Tay has said she wanted to step away from wrestling. She said I love AEW, and I love the people here, but I wanted to step away from AEW, and step away from wrestling. And that’s what she told me…that was weeks ago at Collision after she wrestled against the Divine Dominion. And she came to me after the match, and said I would like a release. And I was taken aback, and we had a very nice talk,” he said.
It will be interesting to see what is next for the 31-year-old star’s wrestling career. It remains to be seen what her next move will be, as she is no longer with the Jacksonville-based promotion.
