Emma Navarro advanced to the third round of the US Open 2026 with a 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 comeback over Caty McNally on Wednesday. After a shaky first set marked by 15 unforced errors, the world No. 27 found her rhythm on the tennis court.
She reeled off five consecutive games to open the second.

A rain delay at 5-2 did nothing to cool her off. Then in the third, she broke McNally’s serve three times to seal the win, though a four-deuce final game made her work for the finish.
The result pushes Navarro to 3-2 in the head-to-head against McNally, whose tennis career has been built more on the doubles side. But the all-US second-rounder showed McNally can push at this level before Navarro pulled clear.

The match also marked the second straight three-setter for Navarro in New York. Her opening round against Loïs Boisson stretched across two days after rain suspended play on the outer courts. Boisson forced a deciding set before falling 7-6(6), 6-7(1), 6-3.

That match went viral thanks to more than just the weather element. After the final score, Boisson smashed her racket onto the court while an unaware Navarro celebrated just feet away.
Up next for the US star is No. 7 seed Karolína Muchová, the 2026 Wimbledon semifinalist, in the third round. That match is scheduled for Friday.
