Commonwealth Games bronze medallist javelin thrower Yashvir Singh has been named Worlds and Olympic medallist Neeraj Chopra’s replacement for the upcoming Asian Games.

As per the latest 77-member Asiad team released by the Athletics Federation of India (AFI), Yashvir and Rohit Yadav will represent India in men’s javelin at the Aichi-Nagoya Games.

Neeraj, who secured a silver in the Glasgow Commonwealth Games and recorded his season’s best 88.05m at the Lausanne Diamond League, prematurely ended his season due to an ankle ligament tear.

As expected, Abhishek Pal’s name is missing from the list after the distance runner reportedly tested positive for a banned substance.
