Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow has spent portions of the summer seemingly telling anybody who will listen that he is “trying to manifest” the Bengals winning the Super Bowl.
It sounds like Burrow is confident Cincinnati could be the last team standing in February 2027.
Joe Burrow can “feel it in my bones” that the Bengals are different this year
Per Dave Clark of The Cincinnati Enquirer, Burrow was recently the first guest on teammate/wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase’s new “Chasing No. 1” podcast. During the episode, Chase asked Burrow about the signal-caller’s “goals” for the 2026 season.
“I just want to win this year,” Burrow responded. “I just want to win. The rest will take care of itself. We’ll break a bunch of records eventually, but I think we’re going to have a really good team that has a chance to win every game that we step foot on the field for. I don’t know about you, but I could really feel it in my bones (and) in my soul in OTAs this year − different from years past.”
The Bengals made Burrow the first overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft, and he guided the team to a Super Bowl appearance in February 2022. Since that loss to the Los Angeles Rams, however, Burrow has played in just three playoff games, all of which occurred in January 2023.
That said, the Bengals made numerous moves during this past offseason to bolster their defense. Additionally, Burrow is now “so dialed” in to do whatever he can to stay healthy after he suffered a toe injury in Week 2 of the 2025 season that kept him sidelined until Week 13.
How Joe Burrow responds to criticism
“We brought in a lot of the right guys, a lot of the right people with the right mindsets to go and chase this goal of winning a Super Bowl and winning as many games as we can and being the best possible team that we can,” Burrow continued. “I felt it from our D-line. I felt it from our defense. Our offense has the same guys as years past … But these veteran guys that we brought in on defense to be able to help our younger guys …”
According to Clark, podcast co-host Annie Agar asked Burrow about whether he listens to or cares about criticism lobbed his way amid the Bengals’ playoff drought, which is at three years and counting.
“I’ve never cared about any of that,” Burrow explained. “No. Especially when it comes to, like, the clothes that I wear. Like, I just wear clothes because either it’s comfy or I think it looks good. Like, I really don’t care what anybody says about the kind of clothes.”
Some think Burrow could ask for a trade if the Bengals don’t win at least one playoff game in January 2027. As it pertains to his future, he seems to be focused only on what he can offer the Bengals through their final game of the upcoming season.
