EA Sports announced on June 3, 2026, that Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams will be the cover athlete for “Madden NFL 27.” He is the first player in franchise history to appear on the cover of the iconic football video game.

The game’s Standard Edition cover features Williams’ signature jump pass during a dramatic playoff comeback against the Green Bay Packers. The Deluxe Edition has his “Iceman” celebration following a memorable 46-yard overtime touchdown pass to DJ Moore in a Week 16 victory over Green Bay, which was recognized as the NFL’s 2025 Moment of the Year.
EA Sports executive Evan Dexter praised Williams as “the face of the franchise” and called him an “electric, generational quarterback.” The cover is scheduled for full release on August 13, 2026.
Caleb Williams lives ‘childhood dream’ on the Madden 27 official cover
Williams described the feature on “Madden NFL 27” as the realization of a lifelong ambition.
“When I received the call from Madden, it was like my childhood dream was coming true,” he said. “Being on the cover of Madden NFL 27 is a full-circle moment. I grew up playing Madden and imagining what it would be like to be part of the game.”
He added that he hopes to “get my rating up to a 99 by the end of the season.”
Williams had a breakthrough 2025 season under Bears coach Ben Johnson. He threw for 3,942 yards and 27 touchdowns. His performance helped set a franchise single-season passing record while leading Chicago to its first division title since 2018 and first playoff victory in 15 years.
