“Diana Taurasi was a Bigger Menace and Diva”: Caitlin Clark Fans Rip Journalist For “Singling Out” Fever Star After Her Latest Jab Over Technical Foul

Caitlin Clark received her fifth technical foul of the season in a 86-77 win over the Phoenix Mercury on Monday. The Fever star got the whistle for clapping after an argument with an official.

Clark is now only three techs away from a one-game suspension under league rules. On Tuesday, Anna Costabile from The Athletic shared her article covering the incident and her opinion on Clark’s on-court behaviour on X.

In the article, she criticized the Fever guard for being performative in her appeals to referees.

“Clark sketched out her vision of what is acceptable in the modern WNBA. An official issued a call, and she raised her hand like Neo stopping bullets in ‘The Matrix.’ Full stop, in her mind, for whatever is happening to her this season. What is usually a perfunctory and quiet process for appealing technical fouls is now something more,” Costabile wrote.

Fans swarmed the post’s comments section with their thoughts on the news piece.

“Garbage. Diana Taurasi was a bigger menace and diva. You all just don’t like the straight girl doing it,” one fan said.

“Whenever Caitlin is playing well, the narrative shifts to something else to keep a negative spin on things. I’m so fucking tired,” another fan said.

“This ‘journalist’ is a joke. Must be in the FO media pool. 🤷🏻‍♀️,” another fan commented.

    Here are more reactions:

“Again, there are over 100 players in the WNBA. But it seems everyone cannot make ends meet if they don’t write about that one player,” one fan commented.

“We’ve lost another WNBA ‘journalist’ to the CC hate disease 😭,” another fan commented.

“Comedy at its finest! Thanks, Annie, for this must-read comedy 😂🤣😂🤣,” another fan said.

Caitlin Clark shares honest thoughts on her fifth technical foul

Caitlin Clark shared her thoughts on her fifth technical foul while speaking with the press after securing the win. The Fever star recalled the incident and critcized the official for not liking competitive basketball.

“I went to (referee) Gerda (Gatling), and I said, ‘Why’d you give me a technical foul?’ She said because I was ‘clapping and instigating,’” Clark said. “I said, ‘OK, then you just don’t like competitive basketball.’ And that’s just facts. That’s just reality.”

Caitlin Clark is on a hot run this season. She is averaging 21.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 8.2 assists per game on 42.6% shooting.
