The Agency season 2 concludes its 10-episode run by bringing several major espionage storylines to a close while leaving important questions about its central characters. The finale follows Martian’s mission to rescue Samia, the CIA’s investigation into an internal intelligence leak, Danny’s struggle to survive in Iran, and the operation targeting Viking and his Valhalla network.
By the end of the episode, Martian succeeds in disrupting Viking’s operation but is captured by Valhalla after surviving the explosion he orchestrates. The closing scenes confirm that Martian is being held prisoner, while other storylines reach varying degrees of resolution.
The Agency season 2 finale recap: Why does Martian save Samia but still lose the life they once shared?

The mission of Martian to save Samia is the main storyline that runs through the entire The Agency season 2. Following the episodes of season 1, Samia is psychologically and physically abused by RSF as her captors try to make her give out details on Martian’s CIA status.
Despite being released to the UK through a humanitarian deal, her family is still held captive, restricting her freedom. In order to rescue Samia, Martian has risked not only his career but also his position in the CIA as well. In addition, he operates with informal agents; finally, Blair becomes his partner for the successful completion of the mission.
Nonetheless, Samia says that she and her husband can never go back to the way things were before due to their tragic experience.
How is the CIA mole finally exposed?
The other key storyline of The Agency season 2 is about the hunt for the source of intelligence leak. Suspicions are first raised on Martian as he had engaged in intelligence trading with the head of MI6, Jim Richardson, without authorization.
Henry Ogletree is also under suspicion, but in the course of investigating the matter, it is found out that Martian is behind the leak since Richardson has been leaking intelligence to China as a Chinese mole in British Intelligence for many years. He kills off Richardson, revealing himself as the real mole.
But the CIA also discovers that Martian had indulged in illegal intelligence exchange activities, though he was not aware of the other activities carried out by Richardson. Meanwhile, Henry is cleared of suspicion as the investigation proved that he was not the one causing the leak. Though the mole hunt comes to an end in season 2, Martian’s status at the CIA will be compromised due to his behavior during the operation.
How did Martian become Viking’s prisoner?
The final mission is related to the elimination of Viking, the head of Valhalla group supported by Russia. Disguised as a diamond dealer, Martian reaches Valhalla in the Central African Republic and meets Viking there. In their conversation, he detonates a bomb, which was put into a chess clock. The explosion seriously damages the operation.
Later, the CIA loses contact with Martian and presumes he died in the explosion. But by the end of the episode, it becomes clear that Martian survived the explosion and was caught by Valhalla. His affiliation with the CIA is revealed by Viking’s men, who decide not to kill Martian but keep him alive because he can provide some information.
Danny’s story arc is also completed in the finale. She survives an assassination attempt during her transfer from the prison where she was arrested with Hassan. Hassan does not name Danny during the interrogation and stays loyal to her even when tortured.
Several important plot lines receive closure by the conclusion of The Agency season 2. Samia is released from captivity, Richardson’s part in the intelligence leak becomes clear, Danny escapes alive from her undercover mission, and Valhalla’s operations take a huge blow. On the other hand, Martian is captured by his enemies, putting him in Valhalla’s captivity by the end of the season.
