Everton made contact to sign Arsenal’s Ethan Nwaneri

Everton have reportedly made contact to sign Arsenal youngster Ethan Nwaneri, as per the Daily Mail.

After coming through the Gunners’ youth system, the 19-year-old made his first-team debut back in 2022 at the age of 15. However, he has struggled to break into Mikel Arteta’s starting line-up.

Amid Bukayo Saka’s injury absence, Nwaneri featured regularly during the 2024/25 campaign, scoring nine goals and registering two assists across all competitions.

However, following Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze’s arrival last summer, the youngster has found himself on the periphery. He joined Olympique de Marseille on loan in January to play regularly and develop his career. However, the Englishman struggled in Ligue 1 as well, starting only three league matches.

Now, the Daily Mail report that Arsenal are ready to let Nwaneri leave on loan before the September 1st transfer deadline and Everton are interested in him.

The Toffees made contact to learn about the details of signing him earlier in this window. Apart from them, RB Leipzig and Fulham are in this race, while the Cottagers also checked over his availability.

The report claim that although Arsenal don’t want to let Nwaneri leave permanently, they are prepared to cash-in on Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli, with the duo’s existing deal set to expire at the end of this season.

    Nwaneri to Everton

Nwaneri is a left-footed, technically gifted versatile player. He can provide cover in the creative midfield and right flank, while he is comfortable with his wrong foot.

The youngster can dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas, is efficient in creating opportunities for fellow attackers, and also works hard without possession.

Although he hasn’t been able to flourish in his career at the Emirates Stadium, he, valued at around £30m by Transfermarkt, is a highly talented player and possesses the potential to reach the top.

A change of environment might even help him reach there. So, the Arsenal youngster might be a shrewd acquisition for Everton should they purchase him.

However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the Merseyside club eventually make a concrete approach to secure his services over the coming days.
