    BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia opens up about the speculations on the Director of Cricket position. Ahead of the board’s meeting to review he team’s recent performance, it was rumoured that the Board of Control for Cricket in India could offer their former India cricketer VVS Laxman a new role.

    VVS Laxman continues to grab the headlines as the head of the head of the Center of Excellence (CoE). Recently, multiple first-team players had to visit the CoE in Bengaluru because of injury reasons. Under the observation of Laxman and his support staff, the players get the opportunity to polish their skills. Over the years, CoE becomes on of the main lifelines for the Indian cricket teams.

    No Director of Cricket role for VVS Laxman?

    A few claims across social media platforms claimed the BCCI officials might offer VVS Laxman a fresh role, bigger than his present job at CoE. However, on August 3, the claims proved wrong as the BCCI secretary stated that they have no such plans to introduce a Director of Cricket.

    No such plans to have a director of cricket,” BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia says, according to ‘X’ post shared by Rasesh Mandan, a Hindustan Times journalist.
