Celtic now readying opening offer to sign highly-rated English talent

Celtic are now ready to launch an opening offer to sign Cameron Ashia from Huddersfield Town after completing extensive checks on the highly-rated Englishman.

Celtic ready to launch Ashia move

Fresh from securing the Scottish Premiership title in dramatic fashion against Hearts, Celtic have turned their attention straight towards the transfer window.

They will not want a repeat of the current campaign. As exciting as the drama was, the Bhoys should be keen to re-establish their dominance in Scotland next season, starting with the arrival of several fresh faces.

Among those fresh faces will likely be a new manager following Martin O’Neill’s excellent short-term return. Then, the focus will turn to the players, which could lead to the arrival of a League One star.

According to Sports Boom, Celtic are readying an opening offer to sign Ashia from Huddersfield this summer. The Hoops have completed several recruitment checks on the attacking midfielder and see him as a potential bargain deal.

The 21-year-old is also seen as one of the most highly-rated talents in League One and will remain a Celtic target no matter who secures a place in the dugout this summer.

It’s easy to see why there’s interest in Ashia ahead of the transfer window. The Huddersfield star was involved in nine goals in all competitions this season, scoring six and setting up another three, and is only just getting started.

Whether the Bhoys can lure the Englishman away from the clutches of EFL clubs very much remains the big question. The attraction of champions will certainly do them no harm on that front.

O’Neill hits back at “lack of class” claims

It wasn’t just Maeda’s goal and Callum Osmand’s late effort that sparked drama at Celtic Park last weekend. It was the scenes that followed Osmand’s goal, with fans bursting onto the pitch in front of heartbroken Hearts players, sparking some unsavoury scenes.

Speaking on Talksport, however, O’Neill defended Celtic and hit back at claims that the scenes showed a “lack of class” on Saturday afternoon.

“I’m sorry, I totally disagree with that. I don’t know about the confrontations in terms of the Hearts players, and there’s a lot of hyperbole about that, let’s find out the real picture.

“The fact is that when we scored the third goal, the game was essentially over, there were about eight seconds left, or whatever the case may be. The referee has claimed that he had blown the final whistle at the end. And then there’s obvious excitement, we have scored to win the league.”

The debate will undoubtedly go on and on around those scenes. Celtic, however, remain the champions of Scotland after completing a sensational title comeback to deny Hearts history.
