15th seed Casper Ruud will take on Hamad Medjedovic in the second round of the French Open 2026.
Ruud kicked off his run in Paris against qualifier Roman Safiullin. The Norwegian dominated the first set, clinching it courtesy of two breaks of serve in his favor. While the second set was quite competitive, Ruud gained the upper hand in the tie-break to claim yet another set.

The former broke the latter’s serve in the fourth game of the first set to go 3-1 up, and maintained that advantage until the end to capture the set. An early break of serve in the second set laid the groundwork for Medjedovic to take a two-set lead.
While Hanfmann squandered his break advantage at the start of the third set, he ultimately outplayed Medjedovic in the tie-break to win the set. A close fourth set went the Serb’s way, who broke his opponent’s serve in the 10th game to seal a 6-3, 6-4. 6-7 (1), 6-4 win.
