Liverpool have reached an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain winger Ibrahim Mbaye over his potential transfer to Anfield this summer, as per Fabrice Hawkins.
The Reds are plotting attacking reinforcements as the summer transfer window nears its final weeks. So far, Jérémy Jacquet has joined after the club reached an agreement to sign him from Rennes in January. He was superb at the back during Liverpool’s 2-0 preseason win over Como and even netted the second goal.
Ronald Araujo also looked combative during his cameo against the Italian side, and the two newly signed centre-backs are already proving good value for money.
World Cup finalist Victor Munoz, who joined from Osasuna, also made his mark when he was introduced, and he was the Reds’ brightest player when he came on.
Still, a clear need remains for more reinforcement, especially in attack, following Mohamed Salah’s departure, as well as uncertainty over Cody Gakpo’s future.
As a result, Liverpool have been heavily linked with PSG’s Ibrahim Mbaye as part of a potential double swoop alongside Bradley Barcola. Reports in recent days via Football Talk revealed that Liverpool are stepping up efforts to sign Mbaye.
Liverpool plot audacious double swoop
A deal now appears set to be formalised, as Fabrice Hawkins claims Liverpool have reached an agreement with Mbaye over his transfer to Anfield this summer.
The 18-year-old has rebuffed other approaches, including from Bayer Leverkusen, to sign for the Merseyside giants on a five-year contract, according to the journalist.
However, despite personal terms now finalised, Hawkins, in a separate report, clarifies that Liverpool will need to reach an agreement with PSG over the Senegalese international’s valuation.
With Barcola also being targeted, the French transfer expert adds that the Reds will now continue talks with the European champions to complete a double swoop for both wingers.
If Liverpool successfully recruits both wingers, it would instantly strengthen Andoni Iraola’s attacking unit, which also includes Hugo Ekitike, Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz.
However, a deal won’t be easy, and the Reds will need to prepare significant financial commitments to complete the transfers, amid previous reports that indicate PSG are demanding £128m for Barcola and £34m-£42m for Mbaye.
