Savinho one step away from joining Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur are one step away from signing Brazilian international winger Savinho from Manchester City this summer, according to Nicolo Schira.

Tottenham reportedly tried to sign Savinho from City last summer, but their efforts proved unsuccessful after the Premier League champions rejected several proposals. He subsequently committed his future to the eight-time Premier League champions by signing a contract extension through to 2031 last October.

Despite committing to the club, the winger struggled to secure a consistent starting role during the 2025-26 campaign. He was named in the starting XI just 14 times across all competitions, with only seven of those outings coming in the Premier League.

For Spurs, although they turned their attention to other targets by bringing in Kolo Muani from Paris Saint-Germain on loan before completing a deadline-day deal for Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig, neither forward lived up to expectations, no thanks to injuries and inconsistent form.

This has reignited the club’s interest in Savinho, with reports in recent days claiming that Tottenham are in advanced talks to sign the Brazilian in a deal that could be worth around £60m.

A deal now appears to be nearing completion as Nicolo Schira claims that Savinho is ‘one step away’ from joining Tottenham this summer.

    ‘Incredible’ winger

The Italian journalist adds that Spurs already have an agreement in place on personal terms with the 21-year-old for a contract until 2032, with the youngster now pushing to join the club imminently.

Amid reported interest from other clubs, Schira reports that Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi played a pivotal role in influencing Savinho’s decision to join the north London outfit this summer.

Tottenham’s interest in Savinho comes after a difficult period in the wide areas, with the club’s attacking options on the flanks severely depleted. The North London side sanctioned Brennan Johnson’s departure in January, while injuries to Wilson Odobert and Mohammed Kudus have significantly reduced their right-wing options.

Dejan Kulusevski’s extended spells on the sidelines have compounded the problem, further underlining the need for another dynamic attacking option.

Described as ‘incredible’ by Pep Guardiola, Savinho could therefore be an ideal addition for Roberto De Zerbi, offering the Tottenham boss a direct, explosive winger capable of stretching defences, creating opportunities, and providing a consistent goal threat next season.

With personal terms already agreed with Savinho, Spurs will now need to submit a concrete offer to City as they look to finalise a deal before the end of the transfer window.
