A former AEW champion will be out of action for some time. All Elite Wrestling’s fastest-rising star, Maya World, has been a great performer. While she entered the company as a tag team, alongside Hyan, the former TBS Champion quickly made a name for herself in the singles division. She received a push during the Owen Hart Foundation tournament earlier this year and had great matches against Mercedes Mone, Alex Windsor and Athena.
The It Girl didn’t stop there and managed to win the TBS Championship a few months ago. She put on great matches on TV. Unfortunately, she lost the title to Persephone at All In last month. The returning Britt Baker had cost her the match. On Rebel Heart AEW Dynamite, which took place last Wednesday, Persephone, Britt Baker and Hikaru Shida defeated Maya, Hyan and Thunder Rosa.
Unfortunately, there is some heartbreaking news on Maya World. According to Fightful.com, the former TBS Champion is currently sidelined from in-ring action.
Former AEW champion Maya World discussed her nickname
The former TBS Champion is receiving a huge push on TV. Along with her name, her nickname has also received some traction
While speaking on WFRX News, Maya World revealed that she has been confident for a long time in her life and likes to show off her pro wrestling skills. The name ‘It Girl’ was synonymous with her, and therefore she kept it.
“Well, I, you know, I’ve always been someone with a lot of confidence. Honestly, in wrestling, you have to have that confidence. So, I mean, it’s just like I loved sports growing up. I was just a show-off. I loved competing. So, like, I just, you know, The It Girl, and it kind of rhymes. So, like, I just went with it, you know. But I am the it girl. So, it was just easy,” she said.
It will be interesting to see when the former TBS Champion will return to AEW.
