The highly-anticipated IPL 2026 encounter between defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Raipur has been delayed due to rain on Wednesday, May 13. The ground has been covered up, and as a result, the toss has been delayed.
According to IPL 2026 match playing conditions, the two teams must play at least five overs per side to constitute a result. The evening fixtures are scheduled to begin at 7.30 PM and should finish by 10:50 PM, which includes a 20-minute innings break. An additional one hour is available to manage delays, including rain (two hours for playoff matches). As a result, a five-over match should begin around 11:50 PM; otherwise, the two teams have to settle for one point apiece.
According to timeanddate.com, there is only two percent possibility of rain and the temperature would hover between 28 and 41 degrees Celsius. As a result, there are bright chances of a complete game. In such a scenario, the extra hour would come into play. The next pitch inspection is scheduled to take at 20:15 PM IST.
KKR must beat RCB to stay alive in IPL 2026
The Ajinkya Rahane-led KKR are playing a must-win game against Rajat Patidar’s RCB in IPL 2026. With four wins in 10 games, they are mathematically alive in the race to the playoffs. The three-time champions are coming on the back of four consecutive wins, including a Super Over victory over the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
On the other hand, RCB are second with seven victories in 11 games. A win would help them regain their top place as they have a better net run rate (NRR) than table-toppers Gujarat Titans (GT). In their previous outing, they beat five-time winners Mumbai Indians (MI) by two wickets in a last-ball thriller.
The two teams are locking horns for the first time in 2026. Interestingly, their last game in 2025 was abandoned due to rain. In their last full game, RCB beat KKR by seven wickets in the same season.
