Leeds United are now exploring a surprise move for a “sensational” relegated player, as West Ham United may be forced to cash in this summer.
Jermaine Beckford tells Leeds to sign new forward
Leeds favourite Jermaine Beckford has now outlined two positions in which Daniel Farke needs to strengthen, with the former striker suggesting the manager must strive to improve his attacking options.
Beckford said: “I think we need a creative player, somebody that plays in the 10 role. Somebody that can play in between the lines and create opportunities for the strikers, like a Harry Wilson or a Harvey Elliott type.
“And we need another number nine to really push Dom and Lukas to the next level. But look, there’s an argument to say we could strengthen every single position, that’s just the way the Premier League is. You want the best for your club, and the only way to get the best for your club is by improving all the time.”
Wilson would be a bargain addition to Farke’s squad, with the winger’s Fulham contract set to expire this summer, whereas the door could also be open to sign Elliott, as Liverpool are prepared to sanction a sale.
However, an alternative option has now entered the frame, with the Whites also looking to raid West Ham, following their relegation from the Premier League.
Leeds planning surprise move for “sensational” star
According to a report from Sports Boom, Leeds are now plotting a shock move for West Ham star Crysencio Summerville, who could be on the move this summer, as his current employers may need to offload some key players due to their poor financial situation.
Summerville was sold to West Ham for £25m following the 2023-24 campaign, after Farke’s side came up short against Southampton in the play-off final, and he is ‘unlikely’ to be keen on playing in the second tier next season.
‘Several senior figures’ at Elland Road are keen on re-signing the Dutchman, with Farke known to be a big fan, saying: “Crysencio is a baller, it’s more like it’s a joy to watch him. This is why we all come into the stadium because when you see a guy touching the ball like he does, it’s heart-warming.”
During his time in the Championship, the Rotterdam-born winger was lauded as “sensational” by scout Jacek Kulig, and even though West Ham were relegated from the Premier League, he put in some impressive performances.
Crysencio Summerville’s Premier League season
- 31 appearances
- 5 goals
- 4 assists
- 1.9 successful dribbles per 90
- 1 penalty won
- 1 Player of the Match award
Summerville, who was recently named in the Netherlands’ World Cup squad, has shown he deserves another crack at the Premier League, but a move would perhaps be controversial, given that he jumped ship after the play-off final defeat.
